The newly refinished Wurlitzer Console was on display in the Lobby on a raised platform. The platform floated and upended the console. Everything above the keydesk floated across the lobby. The keyboards were safely stored in another location. Notice the GSTOS signs didn't move.

The righted console looks pretty good, but we won't know its condition until it dries out.

Michele Kein, the theatre manager, walks away in disgust after surveying the damage in her office. Michele has been very supportive of the organ project and has been extremely helpful in the aftermath of the damage.

The blue area on the USGS map indicates 40 ft above sea level line. Some reports place the water level higher than 40 ft, at around 45-50 ft.

Subj: Brook update
Date: 9/18/99 10:23:38 AM Eastern Daylight Time
From: (William Londell)
At 9:00 this morning Pat Battle on CH 4 had a report from in front of the Brook. The water has receded from the theater and she reported the water in front of the theater was 11' high.

The town will probably be cordoned off for a week and no one, even business owners, will be allowed in their building until after building inspectors say their building is safe. They anticipate a lot of condemned buildings due to the age of the buildings and possible wall and foundation damage from the water pressure. Bill..

Saw on CH 2 at 6:30 with Dan Rather an interview with Maria from Maria's & Tony's Pizza, which was under water in the background view. They lost everything in their business. (Ed: The Pizza Restaurant is across the street from the theatre)

The interview was in the parking lot which is at the corner of Hamilton and Second street. Eariler in the day the sign post was almost toally under water which would make the water level above the rear entrance to the theater.

I sent mail earlier to George and waiting for some news, although I fear the entire theater may have been under water except for the chambers.
