Theatre Organist: Bob Maidhof

Bob Maidhof

A native of New York, Bob Maidhof is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he majored in organ performance. In 1978 he joined the staff of the Conn Organ Company, presenting concerts and workshops at a number of Keyboard World and A.O.A.I. conventions.  In 1979 he was hired as a staff organist at Radio City Music Hall, where he performed regularly for 12 years. In addition to the annual Christmas Spectacular, Bob played for the Music Hall's 50th anniversary show "Encore". He was also featured on stage in "Encore" as pianist in the "Rhapsody in Blue" ballet.

In 1993, he and the late organist David Messineo joined to record the popular holiday CD, “A New York Christmas” at the 4/26 Mighty Wurlitzer in the Brooklyn Paramount (Long Island University).

Bob has concertized for the New York Theatre Organ Society at the Brooklyn Paramount and New York Military Academy, for the Garden State Theatre Organ Society at the Trenton War Memorial, and for the Connecticut Valley Theatre Organ Society at the Thomaston Opera House.

He has recently started playing the Bob Balfour Memorial Wonder Morton at the Loew’s Jersey Theatre, and is extremely enthusiastic about the tonal qualities of the instrument.

Bob serves as Director of Music and Organist at St. Stephen’s RC Church in Kearny, N.J., a position he has held for almost 30 years.
